Built-in launcher

The all-new, fully integrated Launcher introduces a completely new way to record, arrange and create music in Studio One Pro 7. As part of Arrangement and working side-by-side with Timeline, Launcher offers a completely new set of workflows, allowing users to move freely between the two environments.

• The Launcher is based on Cells , which contain either audio events/parts or instrument parts, depending on which track they are on. Just like events and parts on the timeline, Cells only contain references to the actual audio clips (shown in the pool).
• Cells are organized into Scenes , which are vertical stacks of cells. They play simultaneously when a Scene is played.
• Scenes can be organized into Playlists , which contain any number of Scenes in any order.

If Scenes represent sections of a song, a Playlist can be a complete song.

Launcher Key Features

• Create new arrangements on the fly using a grid of loops and patterns that can be triggered and edited on the fly.

Scenes and Playlists

Part of the Launcher—and unique to Studio One Pro 7—is the ability to organize scenes into playlists. Like the Arranger Track on the timeline, playlists are a quick and easy way to create, edit, and test arrangements, and can also be used for live performance.

The Scene Playlist Inspector is conveniently located between the Launcher and Browser. Creating playlists is as easy as dragging scenes into any order and setting the number of repeats.

Loop Tool for Events and Parts

The Loop Tool for Pattern Parts is now available for any Event or Part type. As an alternative to duplicating events, the Loop Tool saves time for intuitive arrangement and production.

Event Loop Option

A new Loop option has been added to the Event/Part context menu. Enabling this option will loop the Event or Part until the Song End Marker or until the next Event or Part on the same track, filling the empty space.

Global transposition

Easily play sessions in different keys

Often a session needs to be played in a different key, either temporarily to help the artist record their part, or permanently for creative reasons. In both cases, the new Global Transpose feature, which is part of the Transport Bar, provides a stunningly simple solution.

Real-time transposition

Thanks to the exceptional quality of the élastique Pro pitch-shifting algorithms used in Studio One Pro 7, both audio tracks and instrument tracks can be transposed in real time, simply by checking which tracks should follow the transposition and then entering the (relative) transposition value in the transport panel.

Stem Separation with AI

One of the most requested features, stem splitting, is now available directly in the timeline. Studio One Pro 7’s AI-powered stem splitting algorithm splits a mixed audio event into drums, bass, chords, and vocals and adds these elements to new tracks within a folder track.

As an additional option, split audio events can be dumped back into a single file. This allows you to quickly and easily create instrumental versions (without vocals) or versions without drums.

The stem splitting technology is still in its infancy, so further performance/quality improvements and feature additions are planned in the near future.

Advanced tempo detection

New Level Detection Technology

To get the most out of Studio One’s built-in tempo mapping and stretching tools, it’s critical to know the original tempo of a file, especially when importing audio files from different sources.

Studio One Pro 7 now features next-level tempo detection technologies powered by deep neural networks and advanced statistical models.

Tempo detection works for both short loops with a fixed tempo and long free-form recordings with variable tempo. In addition, the sync point of the audio event is automatically set to the first downbeat.

Simply right-click on any audio event with an unknown tempo and select Audio/Detect Tempo. Then look for the File Tempo field in the Event Inspector to read the fixed tempo value if the source file has a fixed tempo, or Map if the audio has a variable tempo.

Impact Integration in Note Editor

while simultaneously editing patterns can be tedious, especially on a small laptop display. The new built-in editor for Impact provides full access to all of the instrument’s parameters (pads, pad editor controls, and samples) without having to open the Impact editing window. The editor is accessible inside the Pattern and Note Editor windows, and sits next to the pattern and note editing controls.

Filter Notes by Scale

Editing note events in a scale is now faster and easier than ever with the new “In Scale” visibility filter option. When activated, pitches outside the currently selected scale are hidden, allowing you to add, shift, or copy note events only within the scale.

Hide Unused Pitches option in Piano view

A new Loop option has been added to the Event/Part context menu. Enabling this option loops the Event or Part until the Song End Marker or until the next Event or Part on the same track, filling the empty space.

Pitch Resolution and Step Count in Melodic Patterns

Another highly requested feature, patterns in Melodic mode now offer pitch resolution and step count, previously only available in Drum mode.

Note Editor – Note Selection Improvements

When selecting note events in the Note Editor (Piano and Drum views) with the Arrow tool, snapping is disabled for more precise selection. Additionally, selected note events are highlighted immediately upon touching (rather than upon releasing the mouse).

Integration with Splice

Studio One Pro 7 is now the only DAW with Splice integrated directly into the browser, allowing users to easily access Splice’s vast sample library without the need for a separate application.

Browse and search the entire Splice catalog, listen to loops in the correct tempo and key of the song, and drag loops or samples directly into the Arrangement, Launcher, or Impact and Sample One instruments.

In-app Sample Finder Tool

Users can also use the all-new Splice Search with Sound tool to find matching loops and sounds for an existing session by selecting one or more events/parts and dragging them into the Search with Sound search area on the Splice tab.

Numbered items in the browser are now displayed with a natural sort order, so “Sine 2” comes before “Sine 10” – as expected.

CV Instrument, Lead Architect, Presence XT Editor and more

New CV Instrument

Hybrid studio users with vintage or modern analog gear or modular synths can now control their instruments directly from Studio One Pro 7.

When paired with a compatible multi-channel audio interface, the CV instrument can convert note and pitch trigger information from instrument tracks into analog triggers and control voltages that are sent from the interface’s designated outputs directly to the synthesizer’s control voltage inputs.

The output of an external instrument can be controlled directly from the Studio One Pro 7 mixer. The CV tool even provides a calibration option to adjust the connected oscillator and eliminate pitch drift.

Now Included Lead Architect

Lead Architect is now included with all perpetual licenses of Studio One Pro 7. This virtual instrument combines post-processed synthesis and sampling, integrated audio and effects, and an intuitive new user interface for creating powerful leads and fiery solo sounds for hybrid melodic sequencing.

Presence XT Editor and all additional Presence XT sound libraries are now included The Presence XT Editor is now included in Studio One Pro 7, unlocking powerful sample editing, mapping, and even scripting capabilities in Presence, effectively turning the sample player into a powerful sound design workstation.

Additionally, all Presence XT Add-On Sound Libraries, including the Deep Flight One sound set, XT Core Library, Studio Grand, and PreSonus Symphonic Orchestra, are now included. Samples can be imported into Presence directly or by opening one of the many supported third-party sampler formats.

CLAP Plug-in and Instrument Support

CLAP (CLever Audio Plug-in) is an open-source audio plug-in format designed to provide greater flexibility and efficiency for developers and users. Already supported by developers such as Fab Filter, U-he and Plogue, this new open-source format is now available in Studio One Pro 7 for all platforms (macOS, Windows, Linux).

CLAP plugins and tools are presented in the Studio One Pro Browser side by side with any other installed formats. The Plugin Manager can be used to filter out duplicate plugins, as before.

Because CLAP is a new and evolving format, additional features and options will be available in future versions of Studio One Pro.

Improved Auto Gain Option for Plug-ins

Several Studio One plug-ins now include an improved Auto Gain option that delivers better results. This refers to how gain changes are determined, which varies across plug-ins.

The updated Auto Gain option is available in the Bitcrusher, Channel Strip, Compressor, and ProEQ plugins. It’s important to note that these changes do not affect existing sessions or presets; they only take effect when the new Auto mode is enabled.

Audio Batch Converter Now Included

The powerful Audio Batch Converter, previously only available as an add-on, is now included in Studio One Pro 7 at no extra cost. This tool automatically converts file formats, fixes audio, adjusts volume, and even processes plugins for multiple files at once. Audio files can be sent directly to Audio Batch Converter from your browser.
