在蒸汽朋克风格的外壳下,隐藏着一个功能齐全的动态处理器。固定的4:1压缩比确保压缩器具有音乐性,无需用户费心调整。“混合”旋钮可将压缩后的湿信号与干净的干信号混合,从而在任何设置下都能获得自然的并行压缩效果。M/S模式可独立处理中置和侧置声道,即使在重压缩下也能保持立体声宽度。自动释放时间会根据程序进行调整——压缩器工作强度大时快速释放,轻度压缩时缓慢释放。并行

混合旋钮用于混合压缩后的湿信号和未压缩的干信号——经典的纽约式并行压缩,可从轻微到完全调节。固定的 4:1 压缩比专为总线应用而优化:音色悦耳、可预测,无需过多考虑。大多数工程师都能在 60% 到 100% 之间找到最佳平衡点。

输入级内置偶次谐波饱和度——无需单独的驱动旋钮。提高增益控制,电子管指示灯会逐渐亮起,饱和度也会随着信号平滑变化。降低增益,声音就会变得干净。干湿信号都带有输入级的色彩,因此谐波特性在任何混音设置下都保持一致。

M/S 处理
压缩而不压缩声像。
切换 M/S 模式后,插件会将立体声信号编码到中置和侧置声道,分别进行压缩,然后再解码回立体声。中置声道保持稳定,而侧置声道则保持舒展 – 不会压缩声像宽度,也不会单声道化。适用于完整混音、宽立体声总线以及任何在 L/R 模式下并行压缩会导致声像变窄的情况。

Parallel compression with a tube heart.
The Mad Scientist is a parallel RMS compressor built around a simple idea: the more you drive the input, the more character you get. Even-order harmonic saturation is baked directly into the input stage – no separate drive knob, no menu option. Push the gain, the tubes light up, and a subtle warmth gets added before the signal hits the compressor. Back off, and it cleans up.
Underneath the steampunk shell is a full-featured dynamics processor. Fixed 4:1 ratio keeps the compressor musical without requiring you to think about it. The Mix knob blends the compressed wet signal against the clean dry signal for natural-sounding parallel compression at any setting. M/S mode processes the mid and side channels independently so stereo width stays intact even under heavy compression. Auto-release adapts program-dependently – fast when the compressor is working hard, slow when it is barely touching.
Parallel Compression
All the density. None of the squash.
The Mix knob blends the compressed wet signal against the uncompressed dry signal – classic NYC-style parallel compression, dialed in from a hint to full commitment. The fixed 4:1 ratio is tuned for bus use: musical, predictable, nothing to overthink. Most engineers find their sweet spot somewhere between 60 and 100%.

Input-Driven Saturation
Push the gain. Hear the difference.
Even-order harmonic saturation is built into the input stage – there is no separate drive knob because it does not need one. Push the Gain control and the tube overlays glow progressively while the saturation scales smoothly with the signal. Back off and it cleans up. Both the wet and dry signals carry the color from the input stage, so the harmonic character stays consistent at every Mix setting.

* Tanh saturation – Even-order harmonics only – warm, not harsh
* Three-segment tube display – Tied to input gain, not output level
* Pre-parallel split – Saturation applies to both wet and dry signals
M/S Processing
Compress without collapsing the image.
Toggle M/S mode and the plugin encodes your stereo signal to mid and side channels, compresses them independently, then decodes back to stereo. The center stays controlled while the sides breathe – no width collapse, no mono-ification. Useful on full mixes, wide stereo buses, and anything where parallel compression in L/R mode starts narrowing the image.
